Lorne Variable
Lorne Variable Typeface – Information
Lorne is an expressive type family with variable axes spanning across Sans, Flare, and Serif, and ranging from Light to Black. The design combines carefully drawn details inspired by calligraphy and incised letterforms. This fusion creates a unique appearance that remains classic overall, thanks to humanist design proportions.
Lorne's ability to morph along the Serif axis makes it a distinctive choice for strong branding and robust editorial design, as well as eye-catching one-offs like book covers or album art. Calligraphic details, slanted terminals, and flared serifs are defining visual characteristics. These design qualities are complemented by numerous OpenType features that enhance Lorne's design capabilities. Included are Celtic caps, substitute designs for the ampersand, ordinary-shaped 'o's, and a double-storey 'g' as stylistic alternates. Catchwords, arrows, and a set of symbols supplement a character set that covers over 200 Latin languages.
Lorne is available in six weights and three distinct styles—Sans, Flare, and Serif—and is carefully kerned. The full family is consolidated into a single variable font. ■
